One person was killed and three others wounded in a clash between two families in Afghanistan’s eastern Nangarhar province, Taliban police said on Saturday.

The incident took place in the Ghari village of Sherzad district after a dispute broke out when one family dumped snow from its rooftop outside its compound, drawing objections from a neighbouring family, the Taliban provincial police command said in a statement.

The argument initially escalated into a verbal confrontation before turning violent, the statement said.

The statement said those involved in the clash had been arrested.

Local disputes and family clashes have increased in several parts of the country in recent months, with multiple fatalities reported. Analysts say economic hardship, unemployment and uncertainty about the future have heightened social tensions and contributed to a rise in such incidents.
