Sweden donates $6.4 million to Afghanistan trust fund

The Special Trust Fund for Afghanistan Fund (STFA) said on Sunday that Sweden has allocated 60 million Swedish crowns ($6.4 million) to Afghanistan.

In a post on X, the fund said the contribution would help expand essential services aimed at strengthening economic and climate resilience for communities affected by displacement.

The donation comes as humanitarian needs in Afghanistan continue to rise. United Nations agencies have said nearly 22 million people in the country require assistance, with needs expected to increase this year.

The United Nations has said it requires $1.71 billion to deliver humanitarian aid to Afghanistan in 2026, warning that funding shortfalls could further strain basic services and livelihoods.
