Pakistan’s military said on Monday that 13 TTP militants were killed in two separate security operations in the northwestern province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The operations took place on Dec. 12 and 13 in the Mohmand and Bannu districts, the military said, describing them as part of ongoing counterterrorism efforts.
The army said follow-up clearance operations were under way to eliminate any remaining militants in the area. It did not provide details on casualties among its own forces.
Pakistan has repeatedly accused the TTP of operating with external support, an allegation the group denies. India has also rejected accusations that it backs militant groups targeting Pakistan.
The announcement comes as Pakistan faces heightened security challenges. The country ranked second on the 2025 Global Terrorism Index, which reported a 45% increase in deaths from militant attacks compared with the previous year.
The Global Terrorism Index, published by the Institute for Economics and Peace, tracks trends and patterns of terrorism worldwide over the past 17 years.
