Sources: Parts of Paktika hit by overnight airstrikes

Local sources said late Thursday night that airstrikes targeted parts of Barmal district in Paktika province around midnight, causing heavy property damage but no reported casualties.

According to the sources, at least 10 shops were destroyed, and windows of nearby stores were shattered by the blasts. Residents reported hearing multiple explosions during the strikes, which they said lasted several minutes.

Sources said the airstrikes were carried out by Pakistani forces. The Taliban authorities have not issued an official statement on the incident.

The reported strikes in Paktika come as Kabul was also hit by a series of air attacks that, according to multiple sources, killed Noor Wali Mehsud, the leader of Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

Taliban have confirmed that airstrikes occurred in Kabul on Thursday night, saying an investigation is underway. However, they have not commented on the alleged strikes in Paktika.
