A Taliban member was killed in clashes with Pakistani forces along the border in eastern Kunar province, local sources said Friday.
The fighting began early Thursday in Nari district and continued intermittently until 8 a.m. Friday, the sources said.
The Taliban member killed was identified as Zarin Khan, a resident of Laghman’s Gharghai district, according to local information.
The clashes also forced about 20 families to flee the area, residents said.
The incident comes amid recurring border tensions. A United Nations report published in September said there had been 14 border clashes and exchanges of fire between Taliban and Pakistani forces so far this year.
