India beat Pakistan to win record-extending Asia Cup title

India beat Pakistan by five wickets with two balls to spare Sunday to claim the Asia Cup cricket title, extending their record as the tournament’s most successful team.

Chasing 147 to win, India reached 150 for five in 19.4 overs at Dubai International Stadium. Tilak Varma anchored the chase with an unbeaten 69 off 53 balls, supported by Shivam Dube’s quick 33 from 22 deliveries.

Earlier, Pakistan posted 146 in 19.1 overs after being sent in to bat. Sahibzada Farhan top-scored with 57 off 38 balls and Fakhar Zaman added 46, but the rest of the batting order collapsed against India’s spinners. Kuldeep Yadav led the attack with four wickets for 30, while Jasprit Bumrah and Axar Patel took two each.

India has now won the Asia Cup eight times, more than any other team. Sri Lanka follows with six titles, while Pakistan has won the tournament twice.
