Taliban have banned the broadcast of images of living beings in Herat, making it the 17th province where such restrictions have been imposed, local sources told Amu.

According to the sources, the Taliban have ordered all visual media outlets in the province to switch to audio-only programming.

The directive applies to local television channels as well as YouTube platforms, the sources said. Under the Taliban’s morality law enacted in August 2024, the broadcast of images of living beings has been called as forbidden. The provinces in which the ban has been implemented, many TV outlets have stopped their operations.
