The Taliban-run Ministry of Higher Education has cut electricity to several apartments housing staff of Kabul Polytechnic University and ordered them to vacate their homes, local sources said Thursday.
The directive was issued about a week ago, according to the sources, who said dozens of faculty members and employees live in the residential blocks.
Some staff, who have lived in the apartments for more than 20 years, said they cannot afford to buy or rent homes in the current economic crisis and now face serious difficulties.
Taliban have not publicly commented on the matter.
