Several unidentified drones were spotted flying over parts of Paktia province on Wednesday morning, local sources said, raising concerns among residents.
The drones were observed around 7:30 a.m. flying at low altitude for several hours over Gardez, the provincial capital, and several nearby districts, the sources told Amu.
It was not immediately clear which country or authority operated the drones or what their purpose was. Taliban have not commented.
Residents said the flights have caused unease in the area, coming just days after Pakistani fighter jets were reported circling parts of Paktia.
Earlier this week, a number of drones were spotted over Khost province as well, according to sources.
