Two people died by suicide in separate incidents in Khost province on Sunday, local sources said, bringing the total to three cases in the province within a week.
The first case occurred in the Khabashkhel area, where a young man named Shamsullah took his own life. Relatives said unemployment and economic hardship were major factors in his decision.
In a second incident, a teenager identified as Noor Ahmad died by suicide in Tani district, the sources said. The exact cause of his death remains unclear, and investigations are ongoing.
Residents expressed concern over a rise in suicides in Khost, which they say reflects growing social and economic pressures.
Taliban officials in the province have not commented on the two cases.
