Pakistan’s Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister, Mohammad Ishaq Dar, arrived in Kabul on Thursday afternoon to take part in a trilateral meeting with officials from the Taliban and Uzbekistan.
Dar is accompanied by Muhammad Sadiq, Pakistan’s special envoy for Afghanistan, and Khawaja Saad Rafique, the country’s minister of railways.
Earlier in the day, Uzbek Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov also arrived in Kabul, leading his own delegation ahead of the three-party talks.
The trilateral meeting is expected to focus on regional infrastructure and economic cooperation, including long-standing discussions around a trans-Afghan railway project intended to link Central and South Asia.
The three sides previously held similar meetings in Islamabad in 2023, followed by sessions in Kabul and Beijing in May 2025. The talks are part of broader regional efforts to strengthen trade, transit, and diplomatic coordination with Afghanistan under Taliban rule, despite the group’s lack of international recognition.
