Qatari technical team ends mission at Kabul Airport

Kabul airport. Sept. 2022.

A specialized technical team from Qatar has concluded its mission at Kabul International Airport, the Qatar embassy in Kabul announced on Saturday.

The Qatari technical team had assisted in rehabilitating Kabul Airport in line with international standards, which was pivotal to the delivery of humanitarian and developmental aid to the Afghan people and the resumption of regular traffic flow to the airport, Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.

The embassy of Qatar in Kabul renews the commitment of Qatar to the prosperity of the brotherly Afghan people, the statement said.

This comes as earlier this month, a contract was signed between a United Arab Emirates firm and Afghanistan to manage air traffic across the country as the Taliban seeks to expand international flights.

With this contract, the Abu Dhabi-based GAAC expects it will help bring back major international airlines.
