Oslo Forum holds new round of closed-door talks, sources say

OSLO — A new session of the Oslo Forum, a discreet annual gathering of diplomats, mediators, and conflict parties, was held on Wednesday, according to sources familiar with the event.

The high-level meeting, typically conducted behind closed doors, is co-hosted by the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Centre for Humanitarian Dialogue. Since 2003, the forum has provided a confidential space for dialogue around global conflicts and efforts toward peace.

Two individuals with knowledge of this year’s agenda told Amu TV that Afghanistan was expected to be one of the topics of discussion. It remains unclear whether representatives from the Taliban took part.

Separately, Iranian media outlets reported that Abbas Araghchi, Iran’s foreign minister, traveled to Oslo to attend the talks.

According to its official website, the Oslo Forum brings together senior policymakers, mediators, and conflict actors to exchange views informally and explore potential avenues for resolving ongoing disputes around the world.
