Taliban urge India and Pakistan to show restraint amid rising tensions

KABUL, Afghanistan — The Taliban-led Foreign Ministry on Wednesday called on India and Pakistan to exercise restraint and resolve their escalating tensions through diplomacy and dialogue, warning that further escalation could threaten regional stability.

In a statement issued Wednesday, the ministry urged both nuclear-armed neighbors to act with “patience and caution,” emphasizing that any intensification of the situation would have negative consequences for the broader region.

“Regional security can only be ensured through peaceful approaches and constructive negotiations,” the statement read.

The appeal came hours after India launched missile and rocket strikes on parts of Pakistan, in what it described as a targeted response to a deadly attack on civilians in Indian-administered Kashmir last month.

Pakistan condemned the strikes as “heinous and aggressive,” vowing to respond.
