A helicopter crash landed during a training in the defense university in Kabul on Saturday afternoon, leaving at least three people dead, the Taliban’s defense ministry said.
Two pilots were among those killed in the incident, the ministry said, adding that five more on board were wounded in the incident that involved a Black Hawk helicopter previously used by the Afghan Air Force under the republic government before it fell to the Taliban last year.
This is the first time a Taliban helicopter faces an incident over the past year under their rule.
Taliban defense ministry said the incident happened due to mechanical failure in the helicopter and occurred soon after it took off.
The Taliban has not provided further details.
