KABUL, Afghanistan — Iran and Pakistan expelled 583 families on Sunday, April 27, as deportations and voluntary returns continue.
According to data compiled by Amu from Taliban-run media, BNA, 442 families were deported from Pakistan and 141 families from Iran, either forcibly or voluntarily.
According to the figures, 253 families returned via the Torkham crossing and 189 families through the Spin Boldak crossing. Meanwhile, 64 families entered Afghanistan through the Silk Bridge in Nimroz Province, 19 families via the Bahrampur crossing in Helmand Province, and 58 families through the Islam Qala border in Herat Province.
The findings indicate that between April 18 and April 27, Iran and Pakistan deported a total of 7,132 Afghan families.
Of those, Pakistan expelled 5,032 families and Iran expelled 2,100 families, either through forced deportations or so-called voluntary returns, according to the reports.
The deportations come amid increasingly strict policies by both Iran and Pakistan targeting Afghan migrants, many of whom lack legal documentation or refugee status.
