Explosion in Farah kills two, Taliban officials say

FARAH, Afghanistan — A mine explosion in Farah province, near the Abu Nasr Farahi border crossing, killed two people and injured three others, Taliban officials confirmed Monday.

According to Mohammad Ismail Zahid, a Taliban border commissioner, the blast occurred Monday afternoon when a vehicle struck a mine in the border region of the southwestern province.

Taliban have not provided details on the identities of the victims, and no group has claimed responsibility for the explosion. It remains unclear whether the mine was recently planted or a remnant of past conflicts.
