LONDON — Hamish Falconer, the U.K. minister for the Middle East and North Africa, has reiterated Britain’s commitment to supporting Afghanistan, particularly women and girls.
In a post on X on Wednesday, Falconer said he had hosted representatives from the World Food Program (WFP) Afghanistan and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Afghanistan a day earlier to discuss U.K. funding for aid programs in the country.
“We stand firm in our commitment to the people of Afghanistan, especially women and girls,” he wrote.
Last week, Falconer said he would convene United Nations officials and representatives from various countries in New York to discuss Afghanistan’s ongoing crisis, with a focus on defending the rights of Afghan women and girls.
