Traffic accident in Ghazni leaves two dead

GHAZNI, Afghanistan — A vehicle overturned near a market in the Gelan district of Ghazni Province, killing two people and injuring three others, local Taliban officials said.

Khalid Sarhadi, a spokesman for the Taliban’s police command in Ghazni, attributed the accident to driver negligence.

Traffic accidents have been on the rise across Afghanistan in recent months.

According to statistics from the Taliban-controlled traffic authority, more than 4,000 traffic incidents have occurred nationwide in the past 10 months.
