A traffic accident in Afghanistan’s Ghazni Province claimed the lives of five people late Wednesday night, according to local Taliban officials.
Khalid Sarhadi, a spokesperson for the Taliban’s security command in Ghazni, said the crash occurred along the Kabul-Kandahar highway in the Ab Band district. The accident involved a collision between a Toyota Corolla and a freight truck.
Sarhadi attributed the incident to icy road conditions, poor visibility at night, and reckless driving by both drivers.
Traffic accidents have been a growing concern across Afghanistan, where deteriorating road infrastructure, limited enforcement of traffic regulations, and hazardous winter conditions contribute to frequent and often deadly incidents.
