Taliban have detained a former police commander in Badakhshan Province, sources told Amu on Monday.
The individual, identified as Qutbuddin Nahrinwal, served as the police chief of the Kuran wa Munjan district under the former government.
According to sources, Taliban arrested Nahrainwal three days back in the Nahrin area of the district and transferred him to an undisclosed location. No details have been released about his current condition or the reasons for his detention.
This incident comes amid ongoing reports of the Taliban targeting former military and security personnel despite their announcement of a “general amnesty” after taking power in August 2021.
Numerous reports from the United Nations and human rights organizations have documented cases of arbitrary arrests, torture, and even extrajudicial killings of former government officials and security forces under Taliban rule.
