The first Test match between the national cricket teams of Afghanistan and Zimbabwe, which began last Thursday, concluded on Monday without a result, ending in a draw.
This was the first of two bilateral Test matches between the two sides.
Zimbabwe batted first on the opening day, scoring an impressive 586 runs in their first innings. Afghanistan responded with an equally remarkable performance, amassing 699 runs in their first innings, surpassing their opponent’s total.
On the fifth day, Zimbabwe began their second innings and managed to score 142 runs while losing four wickets before the match ended in a draw.
Hashmatullah Shahidi, the captain of Afghanistan’s national team, emerged as the star of the match, scoring an exceptional 246 runs. His performance not only earned him the title of Player of the Match but also marked a personal career milestone.
The second Test match between the two teams is set to begin on Thursday at the same venue.
