Taliban have formed a committee in Panjshir province to enforce theor new morality law, according to a statement by Taliban’s provincial media office.
Based on Taliban leader Hibatullah Akhundzada’s decree, the committee, which has been operating for nearly two weeks, is headed by Mohammad Agha Hakim, the Taliban’s governor in Panjshir.
According to the statement, a meeting was held on Tuesday, led by Hakim, and attended by Ahmadullah Badr, the Taliban’s police chief in Panjshir, and Masihullah Amin, head of a Taliban-run jihadi madrassa.
During the meeting, participants discussed the establishment of seven district-level committees, enforcement of a ban on images of living creatures, and regular inspections of markets, the statement said.
The committee also emphasized measures to address those who disregard the Taliban’s laws on “promoting virtue and preventing vice.”
Last month, Taliban announced their new law, imposing a series of new restrictions, particularly targeting the rights of women and girls. In line with the new rules, television broadcasts have been halted in at least three provinces in last two weeks.
