Taliban’s governor’s office in a statement on Monday said that at least 23,000 tons of grapes and around 7,000 tons of figs were exported abroad from Kandahar in the current year.

Most of the grape exports were reportedly sent to India and Pakistan, while the figs were shipped abroad in the past two months, though specific destinations were not disclosed.

The total value of the exports is estimated at $36 million, according to the statement.

This comes as Afghan investors have raised concerns about challenges to their operations, including limited storage facilities, rising tariffs, and restrictions on financial transactions.

Pakistan’s recent increase in tariffs on Afghanistan’s exports has added to the difficulties faced by the country’s traders.
