Child killed, four injured in Logar traffic accident

A traffic accident in Afghanistan’s southeastern Logar Province left one child dead and four others, including women and children, injured, the Taliban said on Monday.

The accident occurred on Sunday night in Pul-e Alam, the provincial capital, along the Kabul-Gardez highway, according to the Taliban-run Logar traffic department. Officials reported that the crash happened when a Corolla model car overturned.

Poor road conditions and reckless driving are frequently cited as leading causes of traffic accidents across Afghanistan. The Kabul-Gardez highway is a key route connecting at least four southeastern provinces with the capital, Kabul.

Taliban have not released further details on the condition of the injured.
