Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Nasser Kanani, has condemned the recent attack on civilians in Afghanistan’s Ghor province, urging swift action to bring those responsible to justice.
In a statement reported by Iranian media, Kanani called the assault a “terrorist act” and demanded immediate steps to punish the perpetrators of what he described as a brutal crime.
The attack, which left at least 14 people dead and four others wounded, targeted a group of civilians from Daikundi province, neighboring Ghor. The victims had gathered to welcome pilgrims returning from Karbala. Gunmen opened fire on the group, causing the tragic loss of life.
Iran’s strong condemnation comes amid growing international outcry over the rising violence in Afghanistan.
