The Taliban-run Ministry of Education announced on Thursday that the summer school holidays have been extended by 10 days. Schools are now set to reopen on August 10.
The decision comes as girls are still deprived of attending secondary schools in the country.
The decision was made in response to requests from educational institutions in provincial offices, citing high temperatures, the ministry said.
Residents in several provinces of Afghanistan have reported experiencing unusually high temperatures in 2024.
