Landslide in Badakhshan claims two lives

At least two people were killed and six others injured in a landslide in the Yamgan district of Badakhshan province, according to local Taliban officials.

Taliban-run Bakhtar News Agency reported that the landslide destroyed 16 houses, a school compound, and approximately five kilometers of road.

Afghanistan is highly susceptible to natural disasters and the impacts of climate change. In the past two months alone, dozens of people have been killed or injured in various natural disasters, particularly floods.

The United Nations reported that in Baghlan province alone, more than 10,000 houses have been damaged by floods. In addition to the tragic loss of life, the floods have inflicted significant financial losses on affected communities.
