WFP provides cash aid to 3.5 million Afghans in 2024

KABUL, Afghanistan — The World Food Program (WFP) announced that it has provided cash assistance to over 3.5 million people in Afghanistan during the first four months of 2024.

The UN Food Agency’s Afghanistan office noted on social media platform X that the aid aimed to help families feed themselves, stimulate the local market, and empower recipients with the ability to make their own choices.

Earlier, the WFP reported that more than 23.7 million people in Afghanistan would require humanitarian assistance in 2024. The agency also projected that 12.4 million people in the country would face acute food insecurity from May to October of this year.
