Afghanistan: Journalist stabbed to death in Uruzgan

URUZGAN, Afghanistan — Ehsanullah Pashtun, a journalist for the local radio station “Shama,” was fatally stabbed during a personal dispute in Tarinkoot, the capital of Uruzgan province.

The incident occurred on Tuesday in the Safidkhar area of Tarinkoot, according to Ehsanullah Walasmal, head of Shama radio station, as quoted by the Afghanistan Journalists Center.

The altercation, which involved Pashton and some of his relatives, also left one of Pashton’s friends wounded, the center reported.

The Taliban has not yet commented on the incident, but Walasmal disclosed that three individuals have been detained by Taliban forces in connection with the case.

Pashton, 24, leaves behind a wife and one child. He had been working as a presenter and in various other roles at Shama radio station.
