Afghanistan: Educational center collapses in Faryab earthquake

FARYAB, Afghanistan — An educational compound named Sultan Hossien Baiqra collapsed following an earthquake in Faryab province in northern Afghanistan, according to Taliban-run national broadcaster, RTA.

The report has not specified the exact incident date, saying that the collapse occurred in Khyber district.

There were no casualties reported in the collapse.

Afghanistan has recently experienced a series of severe natural disasters, including heavy rainfall leading to fatal floods and an earthquake in October last year in the western part of the country, which resulted in numerous casualties and injuries.

These natural disasters have caused significant financial damage to an already vulnerable population.
