The released individuals entered Afghanistan through the Spin Boldak border crossing in southern Kandahar Province.

IOM figures show that since April 2025, more than 226,000 Afghan nationals have returned to Afghanistan.

The EU mission in Afghanistan said it was providing aid to refugees, returnees and internally displaced people.

"Now is the time for action, accountability, and genuine support," the organizations concluded.

The data indicates that 1,994 families were expelled from Iran.

The young man, identified as Abdul Wali, was originally from Murghab district in Ghor Province.

Many now face growing uncertainty, without shelter, income or access to basic services.
