Taliban on Wednesday confirmed the arrest of its local officials implicated in the kidnapping of a 17-year-old girl in Ghor province.
Abdul Rahman Badri, a spokesman for the Taliban’s police command in Ghor, confirmed in a discussion with Amu TV that these officials have been referred to the Taliban’s military court within the province.
While Badri did not disclose the number of officials involved, previous reports identified Khairullah Khairkhah, the Taliban district governor for Pasaband district; Abdul Hamid Khalid, the Taliban police commander; Mohammad Mushfaq, the deputy intelligence chief; and the Taliban intelligence chief as participants in the raid on the girl’s home in Pasaband district.
A video previously circulated by Amu TV captured armed men abducting the girl. Sources confirmed that the abduction was related to a forced marriage with a Taliban member.
