WASHINGTON — President Joe Biden, in his State of the Union address Thursday, emphasized he “will not demonize” migrants and called on Republicans to back his plan to enhance border security.
“I will not separate families. I will not ban people from America because of their faith,” Biden declared, aiming to bridge the political divide on immigration and contrasting his approach with that of his predecessor, Donald Trump.
The address comes as an increasing number of American voters identify immigration as the nation’s top issue.
