ISLAMABAD — Pakistan announced on Wednesday that Iran violated its airspace, resulting in the deaths of two children and injuries to three girls.
The statement, released by Pakistan’s Foreign Office, did not specify the incident’s location or the nature of the violation but indicated that Islamabad has lodged a formal protest with Tehran.
The head of the Iranian mission in Islamabad was summoned to Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs in response to the incident.
Iran’s Foreign Ministry has not yet commented on the matter.
The announcement from Islamabad follows reports by Iranian state media that, on Tuesday, missiles targeted two bases of Jaish al Adl, a militant group known for attacking Iranian security forces near the Pakistan border.
