Rescue operations are in progress on Monday (November 13) following the collapse of an under-construction tunnel a day earlier in India’s northern state of Uttarakhand, leaving 40 workers trapped.
Excavators were observed removing rubble from inside the tunnel on Sunday (November 12) during the ongoing rescue efforts, which have encountered challenges due to falling debris from the crude part of the tunnel.
Assistant Commander of India’s National Disaster Response Force, Karamveer Singh, stated on Monday that food and water have been supplied to the trapped workers. He assured, “We have been informed that everyone is safe inside (the collapsed tunnel). We have given them supplies of chips, food, and water, and everyone is safe. We hope to rescue them by today.”
