Taliban appoints charge d’affaires to UAE

Taliban in a statement on Friday announced the appointment of Badruddin Haqqani as its charge d’affaires in the United Arab Emirates.

Taliban said Haqqani was accepted by the UAE as charge d’affaires for the embassy, calling it a major step in bolstering economic and political ties with the Gulf nation.

In previous efforts to establish a stronger presence in the United Arab Emirates, the Taliban had appointed Abdul Rahman Fida as their consul general in Dubai in mid-March.

As of now, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates has not made any official statements regarding this appointment.

While the United Arab Emirates has not formally recognized the Taliban, they have taken steps such as reopening their embassy in Afghanistan and now accepting the representative of the Taliban, signaling potential developments in their stance towards the group.
