Taliban commission approves $91 million in projects

The Taliban’s National Procurement Commission approved the budget for 25 projects on Wednesday, totaling 7 billion Afghanis ($91 million).

According to a statement from the Taliban’s deputy chief minister’s office, the projects encompass a wide range of sectors, including the long-awaited completion of the Pashdan, Shah Wa Aros, and Kamal Khan dams, the provisioning of safe drinking water to residents in Kandahar, Balkh, and Badghis provinces, the expansion of crucial electricity services to various provinces, the rollout of high-speed, high-quality internet services to the public, among other critical initiatives.

The projects, evaluated and approved by the commission, extend across multiple ministries, including Communications and Information Technology, Finance, Higher Education, Water and Energy, Rural Rehabilitation and Development, Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat, and Kabul Municipality, as per the Taliban’s statement.

The implementation of the projects is expected to generate employment opportunities for thousands of individuals, further noted the statement.
