Iran’s Foreign Minister, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, expressed optimism on Thursday about the trajectory of Iran-Saudi Arabia relations, noting that both nations are poised to enhance collaboration across diverse sectors. Speaking at a joint press briefing alongside Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud in Riyadh, Amir-Abdollahian characterized their meeting as productive.
The Iranian chief diplomat’s visit holds significance as it marks his inaugural official trip to Saudi Arabia following the restoration of diplomatic ties facilitated by a China-mediated accord in March. Amir-Abdollahian underlined Iran’s unwavering commitment to actualizing the agreements forged in the domains of security and economics. He further announced the establishment of a technical and executive committee aimed at propelling the realization of these accords.
In an encouraging development, Amir-Abdollahian disclosed that Iran’s President is scheduled to undertake a forthcoming visit to Saudi Arabia. Additionally, he lent his endorsement to Saudi Arabia’s bid to host World Expo 2030.
Emphasizing the pivotal role of cooperation between the two nations, Saudi Foreign Minister Al Saud stressed that reinstating diplomatic relations with Iran remains paramount for upholding regional stability and security. Al Saud affirmed Saudi Arabia’s dedication to ongoing communication and coordination with Iran, aiming to foster fresh advancements in bilateral relations built upon mutual respect.
In a gesture of goodwill, the Saudi official warmly welcomed the anticipated visit of Iran’s President to Saudi Arabia.
