Floods in Maidan Wardak claim lives and leave dozens missing

Floods in Jalrez district of Maidan Wardak province have resulted in a devastating loss of life and left dozens missing, according to a statement by Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid on Saturday.

At least 12 people have been reported dead, and an alarming 40 individuals remain unaccounted for in the aftermath of the floods.

The natural disaster has also inflicted significant financial losses on the affected region, Mujahid added.

The floods struck Jalrez district, situated in the western part of Maidan Shar, the province’s central area.

Jalrez is located approximately 62 kilometers southwest of Kabul, reachable via the main Kabul-Behsud Highway.

Taliban’s head of the natural disaster management authority in Maidan Wardak, Faizullah Jalali, revealed that the confirmed casualties currently stand at 22 people, indicating the possibility of additional casualties being discovered as rescue and recovery efforts continue.
