At least three people were reported dead due to heavy rainfall in Maidan Wardak, Khost, Paktika and Paktia provinces in the center and eastern parts of the country over the past 24 hours.
Figures by the Taliban-run natural disasters management authority show that at least 24 people have died in floods and heavy rainfalls in 13 provinces of the country in the past month. Moreover, over 3,000 hectares of land have been damaged and 45 people have been wounded in the floods.
Shafiulla Rahimi, a Taliban spokesman for the authority, said that some aid has been provided to flood-hit families, but those affected by floods have said they need more support from aid agencies.
The International Rescue Committee said last month that Afghanistan is among three countries that are highly at risk of the consequences of climate change.
Analysts said that heavy rains and flash floods are not in favor of farming lands as it damages harvests.
Many families affected by recent floods said that after several months they are still struggling with the lack of shelter and that they need support from aid agencies.
Monsoon rains and flooding in different parts of the country have caused huge financial losses and in some areas, loss of life to the people.
The United Nations has said that the current humanitarian crisis has been worsened by recent natural disaster incidents in various parts of Afghanistan as the country is struggling with a challenging economic situation under Taliban rule over the past two years.
