In yet another major move against women in Afghanistan, the Taliban has closed universities to women across the country.
The move was outlined in a letter issued by the Taliban’s higher education minister, a copy of which was seen by Amu TV.
The letter says all universities will remain closed for women until further notice.
This is the latest in a string of violations against women, who have been systematically removed from society over the past few months.
The announcement meanwhile coincides with the United Nations discussion on Afghanistan following the delivery of the UN’s latest quarterly report Tuesday.
One of the key points in the report is the situation of women in the country and the violation of their fundamental rights.
