At least three people were killed after flooding struck a gold mining site in northeastern Afghanistan, Taliban officials said on Friday, raising concerns that the death toll could rise.

The incident occurred in the Shahr-e-Bozorg district of Badakhshan, where water surged into a gold extraction site, according to a statement from the Taliban police command.
