Saudi Arabia’s defense minister warned Iran on Saturday to avoid “miscalculations” after a series of missile and drone attacks that he said threatened the stability of the region.
Prince Khalid bin Salman made the remarks during a meeting with Gen. Asim Munir, Pakistan’s army chief, according to Saudi officials. The two discussed steps to counter the recent Iranian attacks within the framework of a strategic defense agreement between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan.
Prince Khalid said the two sides agreed that such attacks undermine regional security and stability.
The warning comes amid escalating tensions in the Middle East following a wave of strikes involving Iran, the United States and Israel.
Recent attacks on American military bases and diplomatic facilities in the region — including sites in Saudi Arabia — have been reported after the United States and Israel launched joint military operations against Iran last week.
Those strikes have targeted dozens of locations across Iran, including military installations, nuclear facilities and missile infrastructure, according to US officials.
The joint US-Israeli operation has now entered its eighth day, further intensifying regional tensions.
Iran has responded with strikes on US bases in several countries across the region, as well as attacks on American diplomatic facilities in the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia, and on parts of Israel, according to regional reports.
President Trump said the operations had severely damaged Iran’s military capabilities, including its air force, naval forces and missile systems. He also warned Iran’s armed forces, particularly the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, to surrender unconditionally or face further attacks
