Taliban prevented women from entering a major industry exhibition in Kabul, sources told Amu TV on Friday, sharing video footage of the incident.
The third “International Exhibition of Industry of Afghanistan” opened on Thursday, Feb. 12, and is scheduled to run for five days, featuring about 400 booths.
The exhibition showcases construction-related equipment, including surveying tools, metal structures, rebar products, water tanks, PVC materials, moisture insulation, doors and windows, as well as sanitary and chemical building materials.
Organizers have said the event aims to introduce modern construction technologies, strengthen market competition, expand business links and promote the development of Afghanistan’s construction sector. Some Iranian companies are also participating.
One participant told Amu that women attempting to enter the exhibition were confronted with “violence” by Taliban morality enforcers.
Taliban have not commented on the report.
Taliban have previously barred women from attending or participating in various exhibitions and public events in Kabul and other parts of the country since returning to power in 2021.
