The Kabul Premier League has concluded after two months of competition among nine teams, with the top two sides earning promotion to Afghanistan’s premier football division, organisers said.
The league, held in the capital, determined both the champion and runner-up, as well as qualification for the Afghanistan Premier League.
The Ordoo team finished the league unbeaten with 24 points, while Sabawoon took second place with 19 points. Both teams qualified for the Afghanistan Premier League under the tournament rules.
“Based on the results of this league, the two leading teams have qualified for the Afghanistan Premier League,” said Farid Yousafzai, head of the Kabul Football Federation.
In the youth category, the Muttahed Afghan team won the title, with Sareh Misht finishing as runners-up, organisers said.
The Kabul Premier League is aimed at strengthening domestic football by providing a pathway for city-level teams to advance to national competitions.
The league was held as women and girls remain barred from participating in sports under Taliban rule.
