Taliban have expelled an Indian diplomat from Afghanistan last month over what they described as “undesirable activities,” according to sources familiar with the matter.
The diplomat, Harish Kumar, arrived in Kabul from India on Aug. 13 but was told to leave just four days later, on Aug. 17, the sources said.
Taliban officials have not publicly commented on the expulsion, and details of the accusations against Mr. Kumar remain unclear.
India has maintained a limited diplomatic presence in Afghanistan since the Taliban’s return to power in 2021, focusing on humanitarian assistance and technical cooperation. New Delhi has not issued a statement on the reported incident.
