Taliban leader Hibatullah Akhundzada has ordered that the word “acting” be removed from the titles of Taliban officials and members of their cabinet, according to a statement released to mark the fourth anniversary of the Taliban’s return to power.

This comes as a Middle East Institute assessment has found that about 90% of the Taliban leadership comes from a single ethnic group and that no women serve in the cabinet.

In his statement, Akhundzada said “suitable conditions” have been created for rebuilding Afghanistan and claimed Afghans have been “freed from linguistic, ethnic, regional, partisan and other divisions.”
