The Afghanistan national football team lost 2-0 to Nepal in their opening match of a trilateral tournament held in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, on Saturday.
The game marked Afghanistan’s debut in the tournament, which also includes host Tajikistan. It was the first match under the leadership of Afghanistan’s newly appointed head coach, Usmon Toshev.
The trilateral tournament, which began on November 11, is set to run until November 19. The loss to Nepal highlights the challenges ahead for Afghanistan as they continue to rebuild their football program under Toshev’s guidance.
