Two Afghan nationals injured in ‘armed assault’ in Pakistan

RAWALPINDI, Pakistan — An armed attack at a school in Rawalpindi in Pakistan’s Punjab province, left two Afghan citizens injured on Monday afternoon, according to local sources who spoke with Amu.

Two sources from the area said the incident took place when a group of armed assailants stormed the school premises, targeting Afghan nationals who were present.

Witnesses described a chaotic scene in which gunfire erupted, injuring two individuals. The assailants also set fire to the school’s main entrance, further escalating the tension and panic among those inside, sources said.

According to the sources, the assault occurred in broad daylight, highlighting concerns over security for Afghan refugees and residents in Pakistan.

One source said the two wounded were her father and brother. A footage received by Amu shows two men who have sustained injuries in their heads.

No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack, and authorities in Punjab have not released any official statements about the possible motive or the identity of the attackers.
